Activities
in the Clark Fork River Valley include canoeing,
kayaking, waterskiing, fishing, hiking, biking,
snowmobiling, and abundant wildlife viewing for
whitetail and mule deer, elk, eagles, osprey coyotes,
moose, and especially bighorn sheep. The National Bison
Range, about 60 miles east of Thompson Falls, is a great
place to view pronghorn and bison.
Area hunting
opportunities include big game and upland game birds.
The Clark Fork Valley is surrounded by National Forests
teeming
with trails, lakes and streams, readily accessible to
those interested in backpacking, and alpine lake
fishing. The rugged and visually striking geologic
formations surrounding the area are available for
bouldering, exploring and rock-hounding.
Beautiful "River's Bend" nine-hole golf course,
located west of Thompson Falls, lies right along the
river and has very reasonable greens fees.
Glacier
National Park, known as the "Gem of the Continent," is a
scenic two-hour drive from Thompson Falls. Glacier
was established as the tenth National Park in 1910 and
covers 1.4 million acres, contains over 50 glaciers, 200
lakes, and over 730 miles of trails.

Winter activities include snowmobiling and cross
country skiing in the immediate Thompson Falls area.
Downhill and cross country ski resorts are located
nearby in Whitefish, Lakeside, and Missoula, Montana as
well as an easy drive away in northern Idaho. |
